Jon Hamm Soaps Up In Daytime Drama Spoof

Things are getting soapy over at Saturday Night Live.

The latest SNL promo, featuring this week’s guest host Jon Hamm, is styled as a rather old-fashioned commercial for a soap opera, with the former Mad Men star doing his best serious doctor role-playing.

His diagnosis for a dying Sarah Sherman? “There’s no easy way to say this,” he intones. “She bombed.”

“I thought my farting grandpa would [cough, cough] kill!,” says a stretcher-bound Sherman.

Also featuring Chloe Fineman and Bowen Yang, the “Saturday Nights of Our Lives” promo is chock-full of soap cliches. Lots of face-slapping, drink-throwing, pregnant pauses and, of course, pregnancies.

The April 12 episode will mark Hamm’s fourth time hosting SNL, but his first in 15 years (the last time was 2010). His new Apple TV+ series Your Friends & Neighbors premieres April 11.

SNL‘s musical guest this week is Lizzo.

Saturday Night Live airs Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC and streams live on Peacock. It is produced in association with Broadway Video. The creator and executive producer is Lorne Michaels.
