Mall Witches Be Wild in ‘Forbidden Fruits’ Dark Comedy Official Trailer

“Being a witch is being a sister. And we must protect our sisterhood by any means necessary.” Shudder & Independent Film Co have debuted the full trailer for a witchy horror dark comedy film called Forbidden Fruits, the first feature from indie filmmaker Meredith Alloway. Premiering at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival in March before it opens in theaters everywhere at the end of March. At a mall fashion store, Apple leads a secret witch cult with her coworkers Cherry and Fig. But when the new hire Pumpkin questions their sisterhood, it forces them to confront inner darkness or meet violent ends. Ha ha. This looks extra wicked and wild and spunky, though it won’t be for everyone. Forbidden Fruits stars Lili Reinhart as Apple, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Chamberlain, and Gabrielle Union. Based on a stage play called Of the Women Came the Beginning of Sin, & Through Her We All Die. Looks like girly fun.

Free Eden employee Apple (Lili Reinhart) secretly runs a witchy femme cult in the basement of the mall store after hours – with fellow fruits Cherry & Fig. When new hire Pumpkin challenges their performative sisterhood, the women are forced to face their own poisons or succumb to a bloody fate. Forbidden Fruits is directed by newcomer indie filmmaker Meredith Alloway, making her feature directorial debut now after a few other short films previously. The screenplay is written by Meredith Alloway and Lily Houghton. Produced by Mason Novick, Diablo Cody, Trent Hubbard, Mary Anne Waterhouse. This is premiering at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival this March. IFC and Shudder will then debut Alloway’s Forbidden Fruits film in US theaters nationwide starting March 27th, 2026 coming soon.
