“Nobody else deserves to be the logo.” Prime Video has revealed an official trailer for a documentary film titled Jerry West: The Logo, a vibrant sports history look back at the iconic player who is the silhouette of the NBA logo. I had no idea! Jerry West is the iconic player that is now the iconic logo – but also so much more. Through dozens of never-before-told stories shared by friends, family members, teammates & colleagues—including insights from former and current NBA stars Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, and West’s own wife and several children—Jerry West: The Logo paints a complex portrait of a man driven by perfectionism. In capturing what would become West’s final interviews, the doc becomes both eulogy and reckoning—a tender, unflinching examination of what we sacrifice in pursuit of greatness and whether, in the end, it’s worth the cost. This film captures West in his most vulnerable and reflective moments, offering audiences a side of the legend they’ve never seen—the man behind the logo, wrestling with his demons, his legacy, and the question of what it all meant. Looks exceptionally fascinating – a must watch for sports fans.

🏀 Jerry West is immortalized as the silhouette on the NBA logo—a singular honor that speaks to his towering impact on basketball & American sports culture. A Hall of Famer as a player & executive, West’s achievements span every level of the game over the course of his 60+ year career. On the court, West was a 14-time All-Star, Olympic Gold Medalist, and NBA Champion. Following his illustrious playing career, West’s success continued as a visionary executive who architected both the “Showtime” Lakers of the 80s and the Shaq/Kobe Lakers of the early 2000s, then contributed to the success of the modern Golden State Warriors. West was a mentor & guiding force for generations of basketball stars, touching countless lives with his wisdom & counsel. Yet, for all his success, winning was never enough for Jerry West. Behind the triumphs lay tremendous personal cost. This examines the price of greatness and the man who paid it, as the notoriously private & enigmatic West opens up with rare candor about his private struggles with depression, the marriage that crumbled under the weight of his obsession, his complicated relationship with fatherhood, and the persistent feeling of being an outsider even achieving what others only dream of.

Jerry West: The Logo is a documentary directed by writer / producer / filmmaker Kenya Barris, director of the film You People previously, plus episodes of “#BlackAF” and “Black-ish”, and writer of Entergalactic and the recent White Men Can’t Jump. Produced by Kenya Barris and Jamie Nelsen of Khalabo Ink Society, Susana Santiago of Propogate Content. Executive produced by Mychelle Deschamps, Hale Rothstein, Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Drew Buckley, Isabel San Vargas, Linh Le, Steven Leckart, E Brian Dobbins. Amazon debuts Barris’ Jerry West: The Logo doc streaming on Prime Video starting on April 16th, 2026.
