Before HBO and DC Studios’ Aaron Pierre (John Stewart) and Kyle Chandler (Hal Jordan)-starring series Lanterns debuted, Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King were talking up the DCU series big time during San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2026. Along with the “Lanterns Training Headquarters” fan experience, an official panel, and a trailer release, the team behind the upcoming DC Studios series also made the press rounds – including a group interview with Variety Studio. One of the highlights from the conversation centered on the Green Lantern Corps (GLC), and the question about whether we will see more Green Lanterns this season – aside from John, Hal, and Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion). Though it looks like we won’t be physically seeing other members of the GLC, Mundy, Lindelof, and King did tease that other Green Lanterns would be name-dropped – including one “really big” one.
At that point, we were running with the theory that they were referencing Mogo, the sentient planet and GLC member created by writer Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons, who first appeared in Green Lantern (vol. 2) #188. During tonight’s episode, S01E02: “Trust Fall,” our theory was confirmed – and in a very cool way. Staying behind to continue the investigation, Hal sends John to Coast City to get the power battery so his rang could be recharged. Once there, John calls up Hal, who uses his voice to activate the box containing the power battery. The password? “Mogo Doesn’t Socialize,” a direct reference to Moore and Gibbons’ classic May 1985 story.
